FIRST INTERNATIONAL FORUM of INDIGENOUS WOMEN: Sharing Strategies for New Challenges

April 13-16, 2008—Lima, Peru —More than 250 Indigenous women gathered at Hotel Plaza de Bosque in Lima, Peru for the First International Forum of Indigenous Women, titled Sharing Strategies for New Challenges. The conference was organized by FIMI, Chirapaq, Continental Network of Indigenous Women from the South America Region and Mexico, and the Network of Indigenous Women from Mexico and Central America and included participants from 20 countries across the Americas. The primary objective of the conference was to create a space for Indigenous women to share their perspectives and experiences, further dialogue with representatives of international organizations and other social movements, and demonstrate solidarity and strength in their regional and international advocacy.
